FISH/CISH
With in situ hybridization (fluorescence-labelled for FISH and chromogen-labelled for CISH), probes are used to analyse genetic changes (amplifications, deletions, translocations) in tumours. They are helpful both in classifying tumours (especially for lymphomas and soft-tissue tumours) and, for certain tumours, in determining prognostic factors or therapeutic targets (in the case of breast cancer or adenocarcinomas of the lung).
Material
Section/block specimens or cytological (including stained) specimens may be used.
