Outpatient FNA Unit
In our in-house Outpatient Aspiration Unit, ultrasound-guided aspiration is performed for the following organs/lesions:
- Thyroid
- Lymph nodes
- Salivary glands
- Breast
- Soft-tissue tumours
- Skin/mucosal lesions
Rapid assessments
In urgent cases, we also carry out rapid assessments (formal or tentative diagnosis within 2-3 hours).
Additional investigations of cytological material:
- Immunohistochemistry on cell blocks
- Molecular pathology on cell blocks or on non-fixed material
- FACS analysis/immunophenotyping (in collaboration with Kantonsspital Aarau/Haematology).
Diagnosis usually takes 24 hours.
